Midjourney, the AI company best known for generating images and video, acquired Co-Star, one of the world's largest astrology apps with more than 4.3 million monthly active users. My first reaction was confusion. One company is building artificial intelligence. The other is telling you whether Mercury being in retrograde explains why you're having a bad week. They feel like they exist at completely opposite ends of the internet. But the more I sat with it, the more I realized this acquisition isn't actually about astrology. It's about where consumer behavior is heading next.
