Love this episode! Honestly feel like Hayley was the most real and kind person you have had on the show! - HSR Angel

Wedding culture is changing fast. Gen Z brides are rewriting the rules, Vogue weddings are becoming cultural moments, coloured dresses are replacing the traditional white gown, and the internet can turn a bridal designer into a global brand overnight.

In this episode, legendary wedding dress designer Hayley Paige joins Maggie Sellers Reum to break down the future of weddings, bridal fashion, and the cultural moments shaping the industry. From Taylor Swift’s dream dress discourse to the Bad Bunny Super Bowl bride moment, they unpack what modern brides actually want and why weddings have become bigger than fashion.

But behind the fantasy of building one of the most recognizable names in bridal was a much darker story.

Hayley opens up about signing what she thought was her dream contract as a young designer, only to later lose the rights to her own name, social media accounts, and identity after helping contribute to a $220 million bridal brand. She shares the legal battle that changed her life, why she ended up postponing her own wedding for 7 years, the $263,000 it took to buy back her name and IP, and the financial lessons every woman should understand before signing anything.

The conversation goes far beyond weddings. Hayley and Maggie dive into red flags women ignore in business, the cost of being “too nice,” protecting your leverage, rebuilding after public loss, and why financial independence gives women the power to walk away from the wrong situations.

Today’s Podcast Uniform

I was channeling my bridal era for this recording with Hayley wearing a this white silk cape. I’m wearing a high rise straight leg jean like these. These ones are also similar.

Hayley’s Top 10

her favourite mantras, rituals, and products

01. A really good night’s sleep. I don’t glorify exhaustion anymore. Sleep affects everything: creativity, performance, mood, perspective.

02. Coffee before conversation. My mornings always start with a really creamy coffee and a little quiet before the world gets loud.

03. Movement as a reset button. When my thoughts feel scattered, I work out immediately. Momentum creates clarity for me.

04. Handwritten notes. Still the most elegant and meaningful form of communication.

05. All denim everything. It’s easy, chic, timeless, and always better with a little sparkle.

06. This book felt deeply validating for anyone navigating reinvention, resilience, or learning how to begin again.

07. Dinner at home with my fiancé after long days. He cooks, we open wine, and it’s honestly my favorite part of the day.

08. If inspiration strikes, I follow it. I’ve stopped forcing rigid routines and started trusting my own rhythm instead.

09.Objects that delight your inner child. Case in point: I recently impulse-bought a frog-shaped coin purse from TikTok and have zero regrets.

10. I always keep pen and paper nearby because my best ideas arrive unexpectedly. Sketches, silhouettes, phrases, references, I never want to lose the feeling of an idea when it hits. One of my favorite examples is a sketch from my REIN series, Track 5, inspired by Taylor Swift.

Hot, Smart, Rich Tips

If I wake up overwhelmed or mentally cluttered, I work out before checking my phone. It completely shifts my energy, clears my head, and helps me start the day focused instead of reactive.

Treat rejection as information, not identity. Not every “no” deserves emotional residency, and sometimes the best thing you can do is keep moving without making it personal.

Read every contract slowly, run it through Anthropic for plain language interpretation, hire a specialized lawyer, ask the uncomfortable questions early, and remember that every dream comes with footnotes.

Favorite Part of the Conversation

I loved the conversation around masculine versus feminine energy and how success can look different depending on the season of life you’re in. It felt really honest talking about ambition, softness, leadership, and the pressure women feel to constantly prove themselves while still wanting love, partnership, and balance.
