One of the best if not THE BEST EPs. So real, raw and also thought-provoking.
People don't think about what happens after the 'until death do us part' of marriage and finances! - HSR Angel
Happy podcast day angels!! We are still in London and I am just going to say it: I think this probably the conversation on HSR I’m the most proud of.
I was actually really nervous going into this one because I was like, how am I going to ask Lorna about the loss of her husband while covering the full scope of everything I like to talk to guests about like money, power, relationships, femininity?! But Lorna really went there.
Lorna lost her husband John in February, less than 6 months ago after his battle with cancer. He was 21 years older, her biggest supporter and eventually her business partner. But what I didn’t know going into this conversation was that when they met, he wasn’t the rich older man I think a lot of people assumed he was. He had been divorced twice and, in Lorna’s words, was basically as broke as she was and they built this life together. Eventually with her content business she was earning in ONE MONTH what he earned in an entire year at HSBC.
But while Lorna was building this massive career, John was handling the finances, the admin and so much of the back end of their life and businesses. When he died, Lorna didn’t even have access to their bank account.
I talk all the time on HSR about women understanding their money, and I actually think sometimes you learn more from someone telling you what they didn’t do than someone preaching at you about what you should do. That is what I loved so much about this conversation. Lorna is incredibly successful and credible as a businesswoman while also being able to say: I didn’t know this. I should have known this. And now I’m learning.
If you are one of the angels thinking about making more money, building something of your own, or building a life with someone else, this is the episode you have to listen to. You will walk away understanding how to:
turn your hobbies into paychecks,
understand your money even when someone you trust is handling it,
rebuild when the life you planned completely changes.
We also get into “The Lorna Luxe Effect,” why she left millions on the table with her first 500K followers and why she regrets every Birkin she ever bought.
So angels, are you ready to get hot smart rich?!

Today’s Podcast Uniform

Today I’m in a full Odd Muse outfit and am obsessed! It was so fitting after Lorna read the note from Aimee Smale where she shared how much of an impact Lorna has had on the brand! I’m in these shorts and this tank (which I have been actually living in) from Odd Muse. My belt is a splurge BUT I am a huge fan of buying luxury second hand on The Real Real and selling things I’m no longer using in order to upgrade pieces in my wardrobe. I’ve already seen so many comments asking about the glasses and they are these ones! PS….what do we think of them?! My mules are these ones! Lorna is wearing this dress from her L.A-S collection!
Lorna’s Top 10
her top 10 to live a hot, smart, rich life

01. My hairdresser Hadley, because I’m a Leo and when my mane feels good, so do I.
02. Spotify Premium because I couldn’t live without music. It’s my greatest passion.
03. Kindle Unlimited gets a fair amount of use because my second greatest passion is reading!
04. Agent Provocateur’s Lorna underwear. I own it in 14 different colours, sadly not named after me.
05. My Soho House membership. It’s not cool to be a “member” of a club in London, but I remember not being one and trust me, it ain’t fun.
06. A manicure because I talk a lot with my hands, so I’m maybe extra conscious.
07. My bookkeeper and accountant. Numbers were never my thing, then my husband John died and now they’re my main business priority.
08. Very niche WhatsApp groups with friends because venting is good for the soul. This is the secret link to the HSR London WhatsApp group!
09. Learning to cook with my friend Elliott. Having a hobby I don’t monetise is bloody thrilling.
10. My Porsche 911 GTS. She’s a piece of art and my safe space.
Hot, Smart, Rich Tips

Hot Hack: SPF. 90% of premature aging is from pollution, so I’m bathing in that stuff.
Smart Hack: Hire people who know more than you. My team is made up of people who are better at the things I’m not, and that’s what makes us stronger.
Rich Hack: If you’re able to, always tip hotel and restaurant staff well. Take care of the people who take care of you, and they’ll look after you time and time again.
Favourite Part of the Conversation

Maggie giving me the space to pause, reflect, and actually feel proud of everything I’ve accomplished. That kind of reflection doesn’t come naturally to me, so having someone else frame my journey in a way that allowed me to recognize how far I’ve come really meant a lot.
