“Your vlog videos help me visualise my dream life so much better! your authenticity and confidence is so inspiring!!” - HSR Angel

ICYMI

Hello Hi! HSR,

I write this edition chugging a frozen matcha and eating a gluten free chicken wrap from Leora Cafe. Shockingly, it’s my first time. I think it’s when something pops so quickly and everyone goes there, I tend to not. It’s a fascinating phenomenon I just spent the morning reading about as it relates to caviar. ICYMI, caviar is having an identity crisis because according to the WSJ, “it’s now so cheap you can serve it to a toddler”. It is losing its status as a symbol for the very reason most things do: it became too accessible.

I eye roll when I scroll past videos titled "the new status symbol is" because I notice that without even considering whether I still like the item in question, I already want to move on. Not only because I like to be different. Because I like to be first. It’s why I think I love investing.

But after I ended up loving Leora Cafe, I questioned why I took so long to try it. Probably because I was focused more on what it said about me , rather than what I actually enjoy eating.

That is what the internet has done to taste. It has made it almost impossible to know if you like something or if you like what liking it says about you. And once something becomes too accessible, are you moving on because your preference genuinely changed or because it no longer feels special to you alone?

I have felt the same about Erewhon recently. But when reflecting on if I genuinely like the food and the experience, the way I did with Leora, I came to the conclusion, I’m actually not sure I do.

So I’ve spent the day thinking of things you’ve heard of that I actually do love, despite how popular or accessible they become. Some of which are worth mentioning: the frozen matcha from Leora Cafe, Loewe’s candle in beetroot, Let Them by Mel Robbins, Turkey Chomps, Summer Friday’s eye patches, medicube collagen mask, my oura ring and eight sleep, and ofc, my Birkins (size 30).

And lastly for this week, you might have seen, I was confronted with another person’s old opinion of me on the internet this week and while my hormones are too out of whack on day 11 of operation freeze our embryo to properly comment on it in today’s edition, it will be the focus of an up and coming new vlog since we are back in the groove of posting. So please enjoy the last vlog all about my dream day in NYC.

Stop Paying The ADHD Tax

As someone who spent years fighting against my ADHD and dyslexia until I finally got a diagnosis, I cannot tell you how healing this episode was for me. Sitting down with Dr. Sasha Hamdani, a psychiatrist and MD, to talk about my journey and why I now think my brain is one of my biggest superpowers is one of the reasons I started this podcast in the first place.

I wanted to share stories with other ambitious women about what it means to live a life full of permission instead of constantly trying to fit yourself into a box. And it turns out ADHD, or really any kind of neurodivergence, is definitely a box people will try to put you in.

But here’s why I think everyone needs to listen to this episode, whether you’re neurodivergent or not. Palantir billionaire Alex Karp recently said there are basically only two paths to surviving the AI era: have vocational skills, or be neurodivergent. His point is that as AI gets better at doing the things we’ve traditionally been taught make someone “smart,” the people who can think differently, make unusual connections, question the obvious answer and operate outside the box are going to become increasingly valuable.

So even if your brain isn’t naturally wired that way, you need to figure out how to become more of an outside-the-box thinker. And that’s really what this conversation is about. From why there’s “no self-touching at work” (it’s not what you think) to how to turn ADHD traits into a superpower as an entrepreneur, this episode is ultimately about learning how to work with your brain, think differently and use the things that make you different as an advantage.
